LOCKHEED MARTIN'S X-35A SUCCESSFUL

WAPA-LOS ANGELES, Lockheed Martin's demonstrator X-35A, made a successful first flight. The jet flew 22 minutes from Palmdale to Edwards AFB. The aircraft did not break the sound barrier and the pilot, Tom Morgenfeld, said "there was no surprises" and "the performance was absolutely sparkling".
