Supersonic starting for the Scramjet

Sydney, Australia - Reached Mach 7.6 in the atmosphere

The Australian Scramjet was started in the high atmosphere over the desert base of Woomera on July 30. The hypersonic engine was started reaching the speed of Mach 7.6, with a supersonic airflow inside combustion chamber. Ordinary jet engines, in fact, decrease airflow particles speed before entering the combustion chamber in order to obtain the deepest possible mixing between oxygen and hydrogen....
