Johannesburg, South Africa - A shortage of 17 fihter pilots and 79 helicopter pilots
The South African Air Force has a shortage of 17 fighter pilots and 79 helicopter pilots - almost half its current needs -, according to Defence Minister Mosiuoa Lekota. In a written reply to a question in the National Assembly, he said 44 fighter and 157 helicopter pilots were required for the current complement of these aircraft to be fully operational.
