Air Afrique: Unions claims payment of wages and benefits

Abidjan, Ivory Coast - African air carrier has been wound up by order of an Ivorian court

Air Afrique's Ivorian employees claimed prompt payment of wages and benefits after the air carrier's announcement of Ivorian staff's dismissal. Air Afrique has been wound up by order of an Ivorian court for insolvency last April 25. It had Eur 510m debt, employed 4200 people and owned no aircraft. Air Afrique was established in 1961 by 9 African states. (004)
