AIR CANADA BEGINS LAYING OFF 1280 EMPLOYEES

TORONTO, The layoff of 1280 Air Canada employees began early today after the Canada Industrial Relations Board rejected union requests to block the layoffs. The redundancies will include 1000 baggage handlers and 280 flight attendants.
