ANSETT CEASES OPERATIONS
NEW ZEALAND, Ansett ceased its operations grounding all its planes and leaving about thousands of passengers stranded. Qantas and Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Blue will now pick over Ansett's assets. Ansett stopped flights because the carrier lacked "necessary funds or facilities to fund the operation", said Ansett administrators.
