JAPAN ARMY SELECTS BOEING HELICOPTERS
TOKYO, The Defense Agency of Japan today said it will buy Boeing's Apache helicopters. A spokesman for the agency said "We selected Boeing's AH64D because it is cheaper than Bell's helicopter in view of life-cycle cost -- the total cost including maintenance cost for using it -- over the next 20 years". The agency plans to buy 10 AH64Ds by 2005 to replace its Bell AH-1S models.
