Prodi Government obtains Italian Senate's confidence vote
Rome, Italy - 165 favorable and 155 adverse votes
Romano Prodi’s Government has obtained confidence vote at Senate with 165 favorable votes, 155 adverse votes and non-voters. All the seven Life Senators have voted in favour, causing polemics among the Right Coalition. The instant comment by the Italian new Premier has been: "This is the best result. I am very glad, we have a majority at Senate which is larger than the one in ’96".
