Sarzana, Italy -

Italian Navy decided during the 60s to set a helicopter base to support ships located at La Spezia. The airport located in Luni (Sarzana) appeared an ideal solution. Such base was available for Navy in 1968, thanks to NATO’s funds. The base grew up and now it hosts two Squadrons: the 5th including the AB-212 ASWs and the 1st based on the EH-101s.
