Giove-A (4): the first test to be an atomic clock

Paris, France - ESA, European Space Agency, reported it in press release

"Giove-A, the first Galileo satellite navigation system is in orbit, and deployed its solar arrays. Giove-A was launched today from Baikonur, Kazakhstan, on board the Russian rocket Soyuz. The last critical stage ended about seven hours after launch. Giove-A -which is now expected to test its equipment, including an atomic clock- will serve as a probe for 30 satellites that constitute Galileo".
