Japan space probe may have failed to collect asteroid samples

Tokyo, Japan - They could provide traces of solar system's origin

It was the main goal of the mission of probe "Hayabusa" (that means "Falcon") for Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). It landed on the surface of an asteroid (Itokawa) last month (on November 26) but it seems it failed to collect rock samples that could give relevant clues to the origin of the solar system. Scientists had likened this delicate task to landing a jumbo jet in a moving Grand Canyon....
