IATA: August air transport showed weaker growth than 2004
Rome, Italy - Giovanni Bisignani, IATA Director General and CEO affirmed it
"August recorded a weaker growth for passenger and cargo traffic. While July recorded 8.5% growth in air traffic, August saw that drop to 6.1%. This is the first indication of a slower demand for passenger services, so it appears that consumer confidence is being damaged by the rise in oil and gasoline prices.
