NBAA supports Jared Isaacman’s nomination as NASA administrator
His nomination is expected to be considered by the Senate Commerce Committee on April 9

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) called yesterday upon the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation to support President Trump’s nomination of Jared Isaacman to lead the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
In a letter to the Senate Commerce Committee, NBAA endorsed him to become the agency’s next administrator, saying his “experience at the intersection of aviation, space and technology will be invaluable in supporting NASA's mission and advancing the aerospace sector".
“Jared is exceptionally qualified to lead NASA at this critical point in the history of aeronautics and astronautics. As a renowned civilian astronaut, accomplished aviator, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Isaacman is an aerospace trailblazer", NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen said.
His nomination to serve as NASA administrator is expected to be considered by the Senate Commerce Committee on April 9.
He founded two successful companies – Shift4, a leading payments solutions provider, and Draken International, a defense company that serves the US military. He is best known for his role as the commander of Inspiration4, the world’s first all-civilian mission to orbit the Earth.
Bolen added that his experience makes him “particularly well-suited to lead NASA" and continue the agency’s collaboration with the FAA, other agencies and the private sector on safety and technology initiatives, integrating drones, autonomous vehicle test flights and advanced air mobility (AAM).
NBAA gave him its Meritorious Service to Aviation Award, the association’s highest honor, in 2023 for his groundbreaking contributions to aviation and aerospace. The award celebrated his extraordinary contributions to aviation, as well as his work raising hundreds of millions in contributions to charitable organizations. His commitment to philanthropy was exemplified in 2009 when he set a round-the-world record in his Cessna Citation Mustang aircraft, using the mission as a fundraising effort for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In addition to NBAA’s support, more than two dozen former astronauts, a number of governors and other leading individuals and organizations have urged the Senate to approve his nomination.
