Kiev claims destruction of four Russian helicopters in Belgorod Oblast
Himars multiple rocket launchers target secret air base. Moscow plays down losses

Ukrainian forces reportedly destroyed four Russian military helicopters in Russia's Belgorod region. The attack, which used Himars multiple rocket launchers, targeted a secret air base used by Russian forces to rapidly deploy aircraft for surprise strikes against Ukrainian troops.
According to a statement by Kiev's Special Operations Forces, the operation targeted two Ka-52 attack helicopters and two Mil Mi-8 transport helicopters. The airbase, located deep in Russian territory, posed "a significant threat to Ukrainian security and defense forces".
The attack was confirmed by Western intelligence sources; the use of advanced weapons systems such as the US-supplied Himars allowed Ukrainian forces to conduct long-range precision strikes.
The operation has attracted mixed reactions internationally. While Kiev celebrated the success of the attack, Moscow typically downplayed its losses, saying the operation had no significant impact on its military capabilities.
