Space debris mitigation through a new device on Vega C

Avio: signed Mou to begin feasibility study finalized to its installation

Avio SpA and BULL Co., Ltd. have signed a MoU to begin a joint feasibility study finalized at the installation of BULL's PMD (Post Mission Disposal) device “HORN” on the VESPA double launch structure of the Vega C rocket allowing to accelerate the re-entry of the separated structure after the end of launch operations.

The industry has recently signed the ESA Zero Debris Charter and is fully committed to it. All components of Vega-C rocket are systematically de-orbited after launch, including the AVUM+ upper stage which systematically performs a re-entry burn to leave the orbit clean after satellite deployment. The collaboration with BULL shall allow to further enhance the Vega C respect of a clean orbital environment.
