Appointments: Jorge Tamarit Degenhardt new CEO of the Eurofighter Consortium

Coming from Airbus Defence & Space, he succeeds Giancarlo Mezzanatto who returns to Leonardo

Jorge Tamarit Degenhardt is the new CEO of Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug, the management company of the Eurofighter Typhoon. This was reported today in an official press release from the Consortium. A Spanish/German citizen, the newly elected CEO joins Eurofighter from Airbus Defence & Space, where he spent the last two decades climbing the company's management ladder, eventually holding several international management roles. His appointment is the result of the three-year rotation policy of Eurofighter's partner companies. He succeeds Giancarlo Mezzanatto who returns to Leonardo SpA.

Jorge has extensive experience in the Eurofighter programme, having most recently served as Programme Manager for Spain, leading all activities related to Airbus’ contribution within the Eurofighter consortium. He also led the Airbus C-295 India programme, where he oversaw the largest order of C-295 aircraft in history, while establishing India’s first private sector end-to-end aerospace and defence manufacturing system.

In his future commitment, Degenhardt will be accompanied at the BoM by Andy Kendall, Chief Operating Officer Programmes (BAE Systems); Cristiano Montrucchio, Chief Operating Officer Capabilities Sustainment and Future Enhancement (Leonardo SpA); Thomas Reinartz, Chief Financial and Commercial Officer (Airbus Defence & Space), Giammarco Quaglia, Director Business Support (existing); and Stephan Miegel, Transition Director.

Announced as we said today, the appointment follows an exceptional end to 2024, in which the Consortium (four participating countries: Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain) obtained further orders from Italy and Spain and planned in advance a major mid-life modernization of the Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role air superiority fighter.
