Aircraft: Jet2.com, and the UK, say goodbye to the B-757

The last flight operated on January 5th closes the curtain on an era that lasted over 40 years - VIDEO

On Sunday 5 January 2025, the UK saw its last scheduled Boeing 757 flight operated by British low-cost airline Jet2.com. The flight linked Manchester to Geneva, marking the model's retirement from service and the end of an era of almost 42 years of flights by British airlines.

The B-757/200, registered G-LSAI and just over 37 years old, took off from Manchester at 10:05, landing in Geneva at 12:40 local time. The return journey ended in Manchester at 15:24, bringing the curtain down on the use of this twin-engine, medium-range, narrow-body aircraft in commercial passenger transport in the United Kingdom. The charter company had six in its fleet. Intended to replace the smaller B-727 trimotor on short- and medium-haul routes, the -757 was the largest single-aisle passenger airplane built by the American Boeing, in production from 1982 to 2004.
