AdP: works of the On CloudNine+ project at Bari's Airport
A two-day events concluded today at "Karol Wojtyla"
A two-day events concluded today at Bari's "Karol Wojtyla" Airport, bringing together aviation experts, industry leaders, and airport representatives from across Europe. The events focused on the urgent need for sustainable and innovative solutions in the aviation sector.
The workshop, on November 21st focused on the theme "Reducing the Carbon Footprint of the Airport Sector: The Future of European Airports and Sustainability Challenges and Opportunities". Discussions centered around efficient use of airspace, ground infrastructure, and strategies to achieve ambitious decarbonization goals. The workshop, organized by Aeroporti di Puglia (AdP) addressed key challenges such as reducing carbon emissions, optimizing airspace capacity, and enhancing passenger experience. Participants, including representatives from Aeroporti 2030, Aeroporti di Roma, Gruppo Save, and partners from the On Cloud Nine+ project (Montenegro Airports and the Albanian Civil Aviation Authority), funded by the Interreg South Adriatic program, discussed strategies to make European airports more sustainable and resilient.
The Summer's surge in air travel highlighted the need for innovative solutions toaddress capacity constraints, increased competition, and rising costs. The workshop explored how airports can leverage technology and collaboration to meet these challenges while improving service quality.
Today's session, dedicated to IT economic operators and companies, delved into digitalization and innovative solutions for smart and intelligent airports. Companies from Puglia, Albania, and Montenegro had the opportunity to network and explore potential collaborations, in specific bilateral sessions for facilitate connections and exchange of ideas. The aim is to explore potential collaborations on new digital solutions to optimize airport processes and enhance the passenger experience.
The On Cloud Nine+ project aims to promote more sustainable and inclusive airmobility in the region. Through collaboration, the project seeks to develop innovative strategies and solutions to reduce the environmental impact of aviation.
