Morocco, DA-42 plane of the national Air Force crashes: 2 victims
The accident occurred this morning shortly after take-off for a training flight
The Moroccan press reports an accident happened this morning involving a Diamond DA-42 aircraft of the Moroccan Air Force, shortly after taking off from Ben Slimane airport, in the northwest of the country, for a training flight. The victims were Colonel Mokhtari and Commander Omar, two senior members of the national Air Force. The airplane was operated by the Centre d'Instruction des Pilotes de Ligne, part of the Air Force.
The DA-42 is a twin-engine propeller multi-role low-wing aircraft produced by the Austrian company Diamond Aircraft Industries in the 2000s. It is most often used as a basic trainer. The Royal Moroccan Air Force had this one in its fleet, which was destroyed. Investigators are looking into the causes.
