Aircraft and airlines: Ana Holdings, first half results April 1-September 30

Operating revenue at approximately €6.6 billion. Financial forecasts revised

Ana Holdings (“Ana Hd”) has announced its results for the first half of the fiscal year 2024-25 (April 1-September 30, 2024), which show operating revenue of 1,099.5 billion yen (approximately €6.6 billion) and operating profit of 108.3 billion yen (approximately € 683 million). “The positive financial results of the first half underscore Ana Hd’s strategy of sustainable growth through continued focus on expenses and prudent growth", said Kimihiro Nakahori, Executive Vice President and Group Chief Financial Officer.

Aircraft and transport

Both the number of international passengers and revenue increased compared to the first half of the previous financial year (+12.3% and +8.8% respectively), thanks to strong demand for inbound travel and for leisure and business travel from Japan.

- Even at a national level, passengers (+6.3%) and turnover (+7.2%) increased despite adverse weather conditions.

- In international cargo operations, both transported volumes and turnover increased compared to the same period of the previous year, thanks to strong demand for tripartite cargo between Asia, China and North America, as well as a moderate recovery in demand for freight, mainly related to automobiles to and from Japan.

- Positive results also for the LCC sector (Peach Aviation and AirJapan).

Revised forecast for the financial year 2024-2025 (1 April 2024-31 March 2025)

In the first half of the fiscal year, international and domestic demand were solid, supported by strong inbound demand to Japan and domestic leisure demand, while international cargo demand was aggressively captured. With strong passenger and cargo demand expected to continue and foreign exchange revenues expected to increase due to exchange rate effects, full-year revenue is expected to be 2,220 billion yen (approximately 13.2 billion euros). On the expense side, operating revenue remains unchanged from the previous forecast due to the impact of exchange rates. However, due to higher-than-expected compensation payments related to aircraft and other items, ordinary income is expected to be 170.0 billion yen (approximately 1 billion euros) and net income attributable to owners of the parent is expected to be 120.0 billion yen (approximately 722 million euros).
