Russian Federal Air Transport Agency lifts restrictions at Nizhny Novgorod airport
They were imposed to ensure the safety of civil aircraft flights
The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsiya, announced that the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency has lifted temporary restrictions on landings and takeoffs at Nizhny Novgorod Airport, also known as Strigino. The announcement was made via the agency's "Telegram" channel.
The recently imposed restrictions were aimed at "ensuring the safety of civil air operations in the area". With the lifting of these restrictions, the airport resumes its normal operations, allowing inbound and outbound flights without specific limitations. The airport, both military and civil, is the reference facility for emergencies at Moscow's Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo airports. Equipped with three runways operating 24 hours a day, it currently offers passengers a network of scheduled air connections to European Russia and Siberia. In addition, numerous charter flights to countries in Europe, the Middle East and Central and South-East Asia operate from Strigino Airport.
