The Italian Navy has recently completed a joint exercise with the Indian Naval Forces as part of a mission in the Indo-Pacific sector. The activity took place in the Indian Ocean and saw the participation of the Indian aircraft carrier "Vikramaditya", equipped with MIG-29K, Rafale aircraft and the Awacs of the "Black Panther Squadron". Support was also provided by the Indian destroyer "Visakhapatnam" and the Su-30MKI airplane of the Indian Air Force, further strengthening military ties and increasing interoperability between the two countries.

Before departing from Mormugao Port, located in Goa, various military operations were planned. These included air defence exercises, heavy weapons firing manoeuvres, cross-deck exercises, as well as tight-turning manoeuvres and simulations of operations in the combat operations centre and on the bridge. This series of exercises highlighted the bilateral commitment to maintaining and enhancing joint operational capabilities.

The participation of the Italian Air Wing, embarked on the aircraft carrier "Cavour" and including pilots from the 32nd Wing of the Italian Air Force operating on F-35B aircraft, represented a significant addition to international relations in the naval air field. The joint operations, focused on the comparison between different technological and tactical methodologies, have strengthened synergy and interoperability beyond NAATO standards, proving essential for the validation and updating of current operating procedures.

This initiative is a key step in expanding strategic collaboration between Italy and India, showcasing the effectiveness and versatility of the Italian naval force in international arenas. Rear Admiral Giancarlo Ciappina, Head of the Naval Group, expressed great approval for the skills acquired during the training, highlighting a significant advancement in terms of international cooperation and maritime security.
