The Forza Italia members of the European Parliament have asked the Commission to intervene to carry out checks through EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency), regarding Ryanair's compliance with maintenance and safety regulations. This request follows the recent occurrences involving the Irish carrier, highlighting particular problems during the landing phases in various airports, such as those that occurred in Bergamo first and Brindisi later. The question was led by Flavio Tosi, Forza Italia MEP and first signatory, during a meeting of the Transport Committee in Brussels. Among the co-signatories are other members of the Forza Italia delegation such as Salvatore De Meo, Giuseppina Princi, Massimiliano Salini, Caterina Chinnici, Letizia Moratti and Marco Falcone.

Tosi expressed concern about the frequency and nature of recent failures, stressing the importance of acting promptly to ensure the safety of passengers, crewmembers and airport personnel, as well as to preserve the integrity of air traffic. The recent emergencies have fortunately not caused injuries, but have caused significant disruption, including the need for evacuations and the resulting disruption of air traffic.

The request made to Parliament aims to obtain a thorough and systematic control of Ryanair's operations, in order to verify that the company strictly aligns with European aviation standards.
