Boeing has a new CEO: Kelly Ortberg
Rumors confirmed; Will lead reforms after Calhoun's exit
The US Boeing Group has appointed Robert Kelly Ortberg as its new CEO and president, thus confirming the latest rumors. The former executive of the Rockwell Collins company (now part of Collins Aerospace) will take the reins of the company starting from August 8, 2024, replacing the current CEO Dave Calhoun, who announced his resignation in March 2024. Investors applaud the choice and Boeing sees a plus sign on the stock market.
"During his leadership at Collins he was well liked by employees and direct reporting managers. He was a very people person". Ortberg is a "tough negotiator" who has had to manage a diverse range of clients and suppliers, analysts at US investment bank Jefferies said. Meanwhile, Boeing's stock stock sees a plus sign after a long time: it has recorded a +4.82% in the last five days (since the first rumors filtered out) and +1.17% today.
