Italy. New helicopter for Alpine SAR

Aiut Alpin Dolomites enhanced intervention capabilities for mountain rescue

A new H-135 T3 "Helionix" helicopter makes up the Aiut Alpin Dolomites fleet. This is an Italian organization that operates mountain rescue missions in the Dolomites area which replaced an old rotary wing aircraft with the same model equipped with a more advanced technological system: "Helionix". The helicopter emergency intervention capabilities for the 112 center have thus been strengthened.

The system "has been acclaimed by users for its intuitive human-machine interface and autopilot, features that allow pilots to focus more on the flight itself and increase safety", said Jean-Jacques Mevel, head of the Helionix program, an avionics suite that is constantly evolving thanks to frequent software improvements that include the strengthening of SAR (Search and Rescue) capabilities.

The aircraft is also equipped with a winch with a lifting capacity of up to 90 meters and approved for recovery with a fixed rope. The purchase of this new aircraft is a move that is part of the strategy of Aiut Alpin Dolomites which aims to renew its fleet every ten years, to have cutting-edge technologies available that contribute to safety. The old H-135T3 helicopter is kept as a reserve.
