Italy. Pisa Airport: expansion works underway
A new building will be built, it will constitute the future arrivals terminal
The modernization and expansion works of the "Galileo Galilei" international airport in Pisa are underway. On Monday 22 July 2024 the workers of Toscana airport construction (an in-house company of the airport authority) began setting up the construction site for the construction of a new building which will constitute the future arrivals terminal. According to the timetable, the work should be delivered in about a year, in Summer 2025.
"We are launching the largest investment plan ever carried out at Pisa airport. An important commitment that we have made from the beginning and which we are carrying forward with ever greater determination. These investments are essential to carry forward the airport offer that sees Pisa is a fundamental airport for the growth of the system", declared the CEO of Toscana Aeroporti, Roberto Naldi, in recent months.
The 2014-2028 "Galileo Galilei" airport development plan is worth a total of 80 million euros. The masterplan includes: the construction of a new building (6200 sm) and the expansion and renovation of the current terminal (12,000 sm). The restyling and upgrading works at the airport will last 27-28 months. Once the work is delivered, the "Galileo Galilei" will be 50,600 sm large (+28%) and will be able to accommodate seven million travellers every year.
