Italy. Grottaglie factory (2): Leonardo's relaunch plan
Cingolani (ceo): "Diversifying production and technologies, we are speeding things up"
To diversify production and technologies. These are the two cornerstones around which the plan of the Italian Leonardo Group, specialized in the aerospace and defense sectors, would relaunch and develop the Apulian plant in Grottaglie, in the province of Taranto.
"It's obvious that if we have only one supplier, and moreover on only one plane, as soon as there is a problem, and this is the case, the plant finds itself in difficulty. So we decided to speed up the process and make a plan which will differentiate production. Above all it won't just be with Boeing, it will be on other things, we are working on it", declared Roberto Cingolani, CEO and general manager of the Leonardo Group in recent hours.
"I will present a first rough outline at the half-yearly report, at the end of July 2024, and then by the end of the year it will be operational with the numbers. It has never been done, we always try", concluded the manager, questioned by journalists on the future prospects of the Apulian plant during a meeting in Parliament, on the sidelines of the presentation of the Grottaglie development plan.
