Positive outcome for the test flight, the evacuation tests and the meeting in the Prefecture on the viability for the imminent opening of the Italian "Costa d'Amalfi" airport of Salerno-Pontecagnano. Preparations are underway for the first flight scheduled for 11 July, operated by the Spanish low-cost airline Volotea towards the French airport of Nantes-Atlantique. The Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT), Matteo Salvini, will be present.

"Everything is ready, we are really at the starting line. Soon we will fly, Pontecagnano-Faiano is ready to become the epicenter of the province of Salerno with the tourist flows that will affect the airport", declared the mayor of Pontecagnano, Giuseppe Lanzara. The mayor of Bellizzi, Mimmo Volpe, stressed: "Step by step the great operations of our airport take shape. Guaranteeing the best welcome is fundamental for our territory", reports the online newspaper "Salerno News".

Approval also from the Salerno City Council: "This is the institutional chain that we like, the one that presents itself to citizens by saying what we have done even before what we will do. July 11th will be a date that will remain in the history books of our territory which will finally have a real airport", said councilor Dante Santoro, underlining the priority of launching a municipal mobility plan suited to the new expected flows.
