Cebu Pacific will purchase 152 new planes
Objective: to renew and expand the fleet for market reasons
An investment of approximately 24 billion dollars to renew and expand the fleet of the Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific. It was announced by the airline's management, announcing that it will purchase 152 new planes produced by the European manufacturer Airbus. The objective is to give a concrete response to the growing demand for travel from passengers on routes in the Asian region.
"The order is designed to provide Cebu Pacific with maximum flexibility to adapt fleet growth to market conditions, with the ability to transition from the A-321neo to the A-320neo. Once finalized, the agreement will represent a significant milestone for the local airline industry and a testament to our continued commitment to supporting the growth of the Philippines", said Michael Szucs, the airline's chief executive officer.
In detail, the memorandum of understanding signed yesterday provides for the purchase of 102 A-321neo and 50 A-320neo aircraft. The choice of these models was motivated by the fact that, according to the airline, they guarantee "maximum flexibility" to increase the fleet in line with market conditions. The contract will be signed in the third quarter of 2024.
