Italy. MSC buys 15% of Genoa Airport
The Ligurian capital's administration supported the sale with AdR Rome
A 15% stake in the Genoa Airport company was acquired by the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) maritime group. This is a move that the sea transport company agreed with the administration of the Ligurian capital, which supported the purchase and sale of the capital share of the manager of the Italian "Cristoforo Colombo" stopover of Genoa-Sestri, sold to MSC by the Aeroporti di Roma (AdR) company.
"The receipt of the proposal follows the desire expressed by AdR to make its share available, in order to enable possible synergistic and development axes for the relaunch of the airport". "The operation takes place in full synergy and connection with the Municipality of Genoa which, in addition to being fully in agreement with the proposal for the purchase of AdR shares by MSC, promoted the operation", on read in a note from Aeroporti di Roma.
The amount of the operation is not currently known (it was 484,000 euros in 2023). The Genoa Airport management company will have the following shareholding: the Western Ligurian Sea Port System Authority (60%), the Genoa Chamber of Commerce (25%) and MSC (15%). The latter must still receive the green light from the Port Authority and the Chamber of Commerce, but Aponte family Group should become the reference shareholder.
