Italy. Bologna Airport: 550 kilos of goods seized
Illegal cosmetics and medicines intercepted by authorities
Over 550 kilos of cosmetics and illegal medicine seized at the "Guglielmo Marconi" Italian airport in Bologna-Panigale. This is the result of a series of control operations recently carried out by the Guardia di Finanza (GdF, Italian Financial Police) in synergy with the Agenzia delle dogane e dei monopoli (Adm, Customs).
The activities are part of a plan to intensify safety checks on products in transit in Italian airports. In fact, the introduction of medicines into the national territory without the required authorizations from the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA, Agenzia italiana del farmaco) is prohibited. All products without this certification, therefore, are seized and the passengers who brought them with them reported to the local Public Prosecutor's Office for violations of the law.
Cosmetics and medicines that do not meet the standards are considered potentially dangerous and harmful to the health of citizens. In fact, these are products subject to the risk of being altered or modified compared to the original drugs, or they may contain percentages of active ingredient different from those permitted in our country. By virtue of a memorandum of understanding signed on 3 April 2023, Guardia di Finanza and Adm protect the European market.
