Italy. Airlines bet on Salerno airport
July 11, 2024 will be a day to remember for Campania
July 11, 2024 will be a day to remember for Campania. In fact, the Italian Salerno-Costa d'Amalfi airport will reopen to commercial air traffic, an important infrastructure for the entire Region and for the whole of Italy. The local Chamber of Commerce also recently reiterated this, interpreting the presence of the low-cost airlines easyJet, Volotea and Ryanair as a successful bet for the area.
The new take-off and landing runway was completed in February and this will allow for a greater frequency of operations in the Campania airport and the start of commercial flights. Now several companies have announced that in summer 2024 they will start flying from Salerno airport.
The British airline easyJet starts on 11 July with a national flight arriving from Milan-Malpensa and then flights to and from Berlin and Geneva. The Spanish Volotea will follow with the seasonal international connection Salerno-Nantes and from 13 July flights to and from London-Gatwick and Cagliari, plus other flights from 2 September (Verona and Catania). From August 1st Ryanair will enter the field and will operate on Bergamo-Orio al Serio and subsequently Turin-Caselle (for a total of 16 weekly), then the seasonal flight from London-Stansted will be inaugurated.
