The night marathon starts at Milan-Linate airport

The aim is to create a "Runway Run" format that can be replicated in other airports

The "Enrico Forlanini" airport of Milan-Linate is transformed into an athletics track. Today at midnight the "Runway Run" kicks off, a night-time foot race that will take place on the asphalt where hundreds of planes will land and take off during the day. The initiative is promoted by the sports association Mg Sport and the airport operations company (Sea), which manages the Milanese airport.

"An exciting, original and unique location like Linate airport to hold a running race, deliberately non-competitive to allow everyone to be present, and fun with music and many friends on the first night of summer, are ingredients that make the Milano-Linate Runway Run something exclusive", is the comment of Andrea Trabuio, general director of Mg Sport.

There are approximately 3000 registered participants, coming from 33 countries (including France, Russia, Germany, Japan, Colombia). Among these there are also athletes from 19 regions of Italy, in particular from Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia, Veneto and Lazio. We start at 12:30am, the route is a single 10km lap. The objective of the sports association is to create a format that can be replicated in other airports.
