General Claudio Graziano was 70 years old and had recently lost his wife Marisa
The president of the Italian Fincantieri Group has died: General Claudio Graziano. He was 70 years old. According to the first press rumors, he was found dead in his home. The death would have occurred in circumstances still to be clarified. From the first findings it would not be an illness and suicide cannot be ruled out. Recently, his wife Marisa passed away, a loss that deeply saddened him.
"The passing of General Claudio Graziano leaves me speechless. He was a friend and was an extraordinary officer who brought honor to Italy, even in his European roles. May a prayer accompany him on the journey to reach his bride", it was the comment of the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, who published this post on the official pages of his social networks.
Graziano was born in Turin in 1953. He trained at the Military Academy of Modena. In 2006 he led the multinational Kabul Brigade in Afghanistan. In 2007 he was Force Commander of the Unifil peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. He was Chief of the Defense Staff (2015-2018) and President of the Military Committee of the European Union (2018-2022). Since May 2022 he was president of the Fincantieri Group, specialized in the maritime and defense sectors.
