Europe will allow US to attend safety hearings of European aircraft manufacturers. In detail, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (Easa) will allow the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to act as an observer during the evaluation of some companies operating in the aviation sector, including Airbus.

It was reported by the director of EASA, Florian Guillermet, who will travel to Washington next week for talks with the administrator of FAA, Michael Whitaker. The European regulator will officially propose this initiative by the end of June. In fact, in March Brussels threatened to suspend the certification of airplanes produced by Boeing, due to the accident on January 5, 2024.

The aim of the European proposal is to obtain reciprocity agreements regarding safety hearings conducted by the FAA in the United States, including monitoring the quality of Boeing Group products. The goal is to increase information sharing, but without performing joint audits on aircraft.
