Boeing is looking for a new CEO

Outgoing David Calhoun fully supports the board's choice

The outgoing CEO of the US Boeing Group, David Calhoun, today announced that he will fully support the choice of his successor by the company's board of directors. This is an announcement that confirms the commitment of the manager, who will leave the company by the end of the year, to ensure that the company can recover as soon as possible.

"The board is ready to make their decisions, they have time to make an informed choice". Whichever manager is chosen for this role will be the result of a "thoroughly thought out choice. We will reach a conclusion, it will be a great decision and I will be the most supportive player on the field", he said on the sidelines of an aviation conference which took place held today in Berlin.

The resignations by Calhoun, in office since 2020, are part of a broader corporate reorganization strategy: Steve Mollenkopf has been appointed new chairman of the board; Stephanie Pope will take over the leadership of Boeing Commercial Airplanes following the retirement of Stan Deal, current president and CEO. A reshuffle triggered by the crisis of confidence exacerbated by the in-flight explosion of a panel on a new 737 MAX plane operated by Alaska Airlines, which occurred in January 2024.
