War in the Middle East: Rafah under Tel Aviv control
Tajani (Foreign Affairs): "Italy wants to recognize a Palestinian State but with guarantees for Israel"
The Israeli armed forces have taken control of a strategic buffer zone between the southern Gaza Strip and Egypt, located near Rafah, the strategic crossing through which armaments, but also humanitarian aid, pass. Meanwhile, on the phone with the President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked yesterday that Italy recognize the Palestinian state, as done by Spain, Ireland and Norway.
"Italy wants to recognize the Palestinian State", but there must be "guarantees for the Jewish people". "The commitment to create Palestine which must recognize Israel and must be recognized by Israel", but "we want Hamas is out of a future state, declared the vice-president of the Council of Ministers and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, interviewed by the television broadcaster "Rai 3".
The Palestinian State will have to arise thanks to a ''reformed Palestinian National Authority'', ''it is no coincidence that Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa chose Italy as the first country from which to start his European tour last Saturday'', he concluded.
