The number of chartered helicopters will reach 15% of the total number of aircraft in flight in the world By 2030. In fact, operators in the sector are increasingly turning to leasing services to strengthen their fleets. Suffice it to say that in 2023 the share of rented rotary wing vehicles exceeded 10%, a milestone that testifies to the constant rise of the phenomenon. 

It emerges from the monitoring of the consultancy firm IBA, a company specialized in aeronautical data and analysis for finance and companies: "A key factor in the growth of the leasing market is the shift towards helicopters in multi-role configurations which increase the attractiveness of the end user, thus expanding the range of possible leasing options", they explain.

Among the most popular models for leases are the H-125, H-135 and H-145 helicopters produced by Airbus Helicopter and the AW-139s of the Italian Leonardo Group. IBA analysts expect rental growth in all weight categories, including the class of heavy aircraft, used in the off-shore sector, dominated by Airbus and Sikorsky. The demand for helicopters for medical rescue services (EMS, Emergency Medical Services) is also growing.
