Turkish Air Force shows its muscles

The "Anatolia Phoenix" international military exercise begins

Dozens of combat aircraft and around 715 military personnel were deployed by the armed forces of Turkey on the occasion of the international military exercise "Anatolia Phoenix" (16-18 May 2024), which takes place every two years at the military air base of Konya. Performed live fire exercises for the occasion.

Ankara has fielded two T-129 Atak war helicopters built by the state company Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), several F-16 "Fighting Falcon" aicraft produced by the US Lockheed Martin, a Boeing E-7 "Wedgetail" Awacs (Airborne Warning and Control System) plane, a cargo aircraft, an Eurocopter AS-532 "Cougar", a TAI Anka drone, two US-made Sikorsky S-70 helicopters.

Present at the international exercise were the land, air and naval forces of Azerbaijan, Qatar, Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Saudi Arabia, as well as observers from 17 countries. For Ankara it was an opportunity to present to journalists the new generation planes and helicopters that are part of the Turkish armed forces. Targeting, rescue and incursions on enemy territory and convoy protection operations are planned.
