War Israel: Tel Aviv continues blitz in Rafah
Tajani (Foreign ministry): "Italy is against the attack, we support a ceasefire"
Israel is reportedly planning specific military operations for each area of Rafah, the strategic corridor on the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. Tel Aviv's goal is to avoid tensions with the United States and the international community, which fear another carnage and humanitarian disaster. In fact, not only armaments, but humanitarian aid and commercial supplies of all kinds pass through the crossing.
"Italy is absolutely against the Israeli attack on Rafah. We have always declared it, even within the G7. We support all ongoing mediations for the ceasefire, we want the Palestinian population to be helped and there is already a plan Italian 'Food for Gaza'. We also ask for the release of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas", is the comment of the Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, interviewed on "Rai Radio1".
According to the Lebanese newspaper "Al Akhbar", which cites an Egyptian official as a source, the situation in Rafah "is worsening further", even though "Israel has informed" Egypt of the "continuation" of its intention to carry out "targeted operations". Meanwhile, the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, telephoned Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, stating that "the United States is against forced displacement from Gaza".
