New sanctions against the Middle Eastern flag carrier Iran Air. This is what some G7 countries such as Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the US and the United Kingdom are preparing. It's an initiative that comes in response to Tehran's recent attack conducted with armed drones against Israeli territory, as a form of retaliation for the bombing of an Iranian diplomatic building in Syria by Tel Aviv.

It was reported by the "Bloomberg" news agency, which cites people close to the dossier as sources, but did not elaborate on the extent of the economic sanctions, as private discussions continue. The move by the G7 countries could further limit the carrier's access to European markets. The company Iran Air, in fact, operates flights to Frankfurt, Cologne-Bonn and Hamburg (Germany), Rome-Fiumicino and Milan-Malpensa (Italy), London-Heathrow (United Kingdom), Paris (France) and Vienna. 

At the moment the airline is not subject to any specific sanctions in the European Union. However, Washington had in the past asked European companies to stop dealing with Iranian airlines. Given that Iran Air is listed by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (Ofac), any transactions involving these goods or services are subject to secondary sanctions. Now the G7 sanctions are coming.
