Israel-Iran: airports reopened

Towards normality in the skies of the Middle East after the Tehran attack

Numerous airports in the Middle East have reopened in recent hours. They had been closed for security reasons following the drone attack carried out by Iran's armed forces against Israel on Saturday evening. According to Tel Aviv, Tehran had launched an attack campaign with 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles and 120 ballistic missiles, of which 99% would have been intercepted by the Israeli air defense system and by aircraft from allied countries.

Israeli airlines said operations returned to normal on Sunday after Israeli airspace reopened at 7.30am. In particular, while passengers returned to crowd the "Ben Gurion" airport in Tel Aviv, the national carrier El Al declared that it had resumed operations and was "working to stabilize the flight schedule as soon as possible".

Due to the attack, the Israeli airline had canceled 15 flights to Europe, Dubai and Moscow scheduled for Sunday. Most of the air connections of European companies (Wizz Air, Iberia, Air France, Lufthansa) had been delayed. Some airlines have modified their flight schedule to facilitate operational recovery. Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon reopened their airspace after closing them on Saturday night.
