Iran attack on Israel (3). Tajani: "Italy urges calm"
“Dialogue to ease tensions in a turbulent Middle East". US and French fighter planes took off
Antonio Tajani, the Italian Foreign Affairs Minister, expressed concern about the current deterioration of the situation in the Middle East, expressing the hope that the current attack will remain an isolated case and will not be a prelude to further military action. Such an escalation, he stressed, could force an Israeli response and, potentially, US involvement, as a sustained attack on Israel would be unacceptable to Washington. The shared goal is to avoid Israel's erasure from the geopolitical map, a prospect no one even wants to consider.
The minister also confirmed that Italy is carefully monitoring the situation through constant contact with the Italian embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran. Tajani reassured that the Italian Government, in close collaboration with the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and with the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, is fully prepared to manage any development of the situation, confirming Italy's commitment to working actively to peace.
Recent news report on the take-off of two French fighter planes and four Americans -the latter having taken off from the US aircraft carrier, "USS Eisenhower"- apparently taking off towards Iraq.
