A contractual pact has been reached in Germany covering approximately 25,000 airport security workers. This brings to an end a dispute that had lasted for several months and which caused a series of strikes in some of the busiest German airports in the country and in Europe, leading to the cancellation of thousands of flights and inconvenience to hundreds of thousands of passengers. It is an agreement that will allow us to avoid further professional mobilisations.

In detail, the Verdi union has signed an agreement with the association of airport security companies Bundesverband der Luftsicherheitsunternehmen (BDLS) which provides for salary increases of between +13.1% and +15.1% within 15 months, as well as bonuses for training and for professionals with long experience.

Following this agreement, the Verdi union has stated that it will not call for further work stoppages by security service providers until the end of the arbitration process. The association and the union therefore have until 12:00 tomorrow, Tuesday 9 April 2024, to accept or reject the agreement.
