Italy, expensive flights: fares at +13% at Easter
Ticket prices are increasing in the main Italian airports
Easter is approaching and with it, as per tradition, the prices of airline tickets increase. It is a well-known market mechanism: the growth in demand for travel by passengers determines a rise in the cost of fares for connections in the skies. The customer who books a flight in March will find himself faced with increased costs, compared to the same period in 2023, ranging from +11% for national flights to +13% for international ones.
It emerges from an analysis conducted by "Corriere della Sera", which carried out a study on the data provided by specialized flight booking platforms. This is the outcome of the monitoring in a nutshell: on international routes the most expensive airport is "Amerigo Vespucci" of Florence-Peretola, while the most expensive on domestic routes is "Tito Minniti" of Reggio Calabria.
The Easter effect affects the increase in prices by up to +5%. In detail, the increase in costs for air connections between Italian cities exceeds 11%: led by the Reggio Calabria airport, followed by those of Milan-Linate, Florence, Rome-Fiumicino and Trieste which offer average fares from 60 to 75 Euros. On routes between Italy and Europe the increase reaches +13%: Florence in the lead (108 Euros), followed by Rome and Milan with average fares above 80 Euros.
