Salerno Airport: runway tested
Plane took off and landed for tests
The technical tests of the runway at the Italian "Costa d'Amalfi" airport in Salerno, begin today, Monday 11 March 2024. In detail, an aircraft completed all the take-off maneuvers and subsequently the landing maneuvers in the Campania airport. Meanwhile, work continues to complete the infrastructure in view of the reopening scheduled for July 11th.
"We are working seriously to complete the work and investment programme: the new airport infrastructure must be built which will replace the existing one. In the meantime, the private flights terminal which is in front of the current terminal is growing", was the comment of the president of the Transport commission of the Campania Region, Luca Cascone.
The tests are taking place while waiting for the completion of the extension of the take-off and landing runway. "The runway at Salerno airport, after the works that will be carried out, will be ready to welcome all flights: it will be a solid reality", declared the politician, underlining how the airport manager Gesac is "carrying out numerous negotiations to increase the number of airlines that will choose to fly to Salerno: after Volotea and easyJet, an official announcement is also awaited from Ryanair".
