Turkey makes maiden flight of "Kaan" combat aircraft
The jewel took off from the Murted military base
The Turkish fifth-generation multi-role fighter "Kaan", a twin-engine aircraft with a wingspan of 14 meters, height of 6 meters and length of 21 meters, has successfully completed its maiden flight at a military base northwest of Ankara. Produced by the national company Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) for the air domain, it allows strategically attacking all types of air-to-air and air-to-ground targets with extreme precision and at supersonic speed.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declares himself hopeful that such a combat aircraft could be advantageous for the country, thanks to its high maneuverability and low radar visibility, together with the ability to carry weapons and electronic warfare, which makes it superior to its rivals. The vehicle remained in the air for 13 minutes with its landing gear not retracted, and reached an altitude of 8,000 feet. It flew at a speed of 230 knots.
