Tibet Airlines orders 40 C-919 aircraft
Agreement signed on the sidelines of the "Singapore Airshow"
The Chinese carrier Tibet Airlines has finalized an order for 50 aircraft produced by the Chinese state company Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac). The two companies signed the agreement on the sidelines of the "Singapore Airshow", the biennial exhibition of the defense and aviation sector, in recent hours. The order concerns 40 C-919 aircraft and 10 ARJ-21 fixed-wing aircraft.
The announcement came after Tibet Airlines and Comac said they would jointly research a downsized variant of the C-919 that can accommodate 140-160 passengers and can operate at high-altitude airports. It was December. Hence the purchase of the ARJ-21 aircraft, designed to operate regional routes and suitable for take-offs and landings in the highlands.
Today the Tibet Airlines fleet is made up of 41 aircraft, all of the European Airbus brand: 27 A-319/100 plane, then 6 A-319neo, another 6 A-320/200 aircraft and 5 A-330/200 planes. Added to these will be the new 50 fixed-wing aircraft produced by the Chinese state company Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac).
