Croatia Airlines towards full recovery

Fleet modernization starting in Summer 2024 with rental of 15 aircraft

The flag carrier Croatia Airlines is expected to record full recovery in 2024 compared to the period before the pandemic. The Croatian government announced this, excluding the possibility that in the near future the State will intervene to recapitalize the company, after the company postponed the repayment of the loan (33.7 million to shareholders) received from the Croatian government in 2019 until January 2025.

"The airline had a sharp drop in revenue during the pandemic, but even before that it faced many difficulties. We decided to inject funds into the company through loans and recapitalizations. In the meantime, the company has brought its operations back to pre-levels -pandemic. They are not yet achieving record results, but they are close", said Transport and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butković.

Meanwhile, the airline will start the modernization of its entire fleet in summer 2024, thanks to the rental of 15 A-220 aircraft. On the merits, Butković stated: "It will take delivery of the first in June, another is expected by the end of the year, six aircraft will follow in 2025, four in 2026 and the remaining three in 2027. I believe that by reducing maintenance costs, which have become unsustainable, and by developing a balanced business model with the introduction of new routes, the company will become commercially independent".
