USA: helicopter crashes, victims

Manager of a big Nigerian bank has died together with his wife and son

An EC-130B4 helicopter (registration number N130CZ) crashed recently in the United States, killing six people, two pilots and four passengers. The CEO of one of the biggest banks in Nigeria also lost his life, dying together with his wife and son. Witnesses reported that at the time of the crash there was rain and snow in the area of the accident.

According to a first reconstruction of it which occurred in the Mojave desert, the aircraft left Palm Springs International Airport in California at 8:45pm local time and was headed for Boulder City, Nevada. Suddenly, for reasons yet to be ascertained, the rotary-wing aircraft, which was at an altitude of around 3000 feet, began to lose altitude, crashing around 10pm near Halloran Springs, California.

Among the victims there is also the 58-year-old Herbert Wigwe, CEO of Access Bank, one of the biggest Nigerian credit institutions. His death was confirmed on social networks by the director general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former finance minister of Nigeria.
